1) They provide nothing to help the team. Just like idlers, they are a dead-weight on the team. Last time I checked, idlers were kicked[1], so why not friendlies? And if you say that friendlies are kicked (which they aren't): 2) They have no place in MvE. So, MvE is meant to be 'at-least competitive'[2], which doesn't make any sense, but anyways, why are friendlies allowed in a competitive game then? 3) They are annoying. All they do is whine when they get killed and beg to not be killed. 4) In reference to 2, there are other options (i.e servers) to go to. 5) They can cost the team to lose the match. Need I explain more? 6) they can make it impossible to win by body blocking engineers so that medic can’t hit them Jack 5 said: If friendlies are the majority on the server, players that kill these friendlies are committing bigotry.[3] It's more likely that the reason I kill friendlies is because I want to rank my stranges and get enjoyment out of killing potato trash players than that of bigotry. I expect this to get one reply and then be shunned in the corner just like my last suggestion/complaint. But anyways: [1]Quote by jack5: If mass-kicking was done, it was to purge the server of idle players. You may have appeared to be idle, hence your removal from the server. [2]Quote by DoMessWithProfile: we want the gamemode to be at-least competitive. He is referring to new gamemodes, but this implies zombies is competitive, which it is. Friendlies do not get kicked from our servers, for there are other servers that do just this and their communities are not that fun to play on. Instead, we have a rule where friendlies are not allowed to complain about being killed, and this can get them muted or banned.
Friendlies do not idle. Often they are wandering around the map, or moving around slightly in a corner talking with the other team. Idling is a completely different subject matter.
Excerpt from the group rules: No bodyblocking or use of boost spots Relevant gamemodes: Zombie Survival Bodyblocking is when a Medic stands in the way of an Engineer and other Medics to prevent the Engineer from dying. So, if you see this happening, just know that it's against the rules.
yes I know it is the point of the thread. I'm asking how you would manage it. I'm asking what practical suggestions you have to offer that would actually work from a programming perspective.
